Support to Local
Governance
(GNHC Conducts Induction Course for the 2nd Batch of GAOs - 24-12-09 to
09-01-09)
Between 24th
December 2008 – 9th January 2009, 99 Gewog Administrative
Officers
(36 females) from 17 districts underwent an induction course at the
Royal Institute of Management. This was done as part of the “Support for
Local Governance Project”, a joint undertaking with the Gross National
Happiness Commission. The course oriented the GAOs on plans and policies
in the 10th FYP, up-graded their knowledge and skills on
financial, office and results-based management, and provided an
opportunity for interaction with other relevant agencies.
The Support for Local Governance Project started in July 2008 with the main goal of contributing towards enhanced democratic governance at local levels through practical application of self-governance and support for participatory decision-making processes and structures.
