Education, Youth & Culture (EYC) 

Children going to SchoolThe EYC sector objective is to improve access and quality of basic education. Support the development of employment and income possibilities for out of school youth. Implement selected cultural projects or events that foster cultural cohesion. Three projects are ongoing in this sector; they are:

Support for Teacher Education Programme (STEP click here for details)

The STEP will contribute to enable the Bhutanese youth provided with schooling to make informed choices in order to shape their lives. This main objective is addressed with several componential objectives, which are enhancing professional qualification of teacher educators, improving the quality of primary and secondary teacher education, augmenting ICT learning and teaching competencies in both CoEs; introduction and conduction of youth guidance and counselling; and CoEs become centres for excellence in teaching learning.

CoE Expansion Paro/Samtse (CoE click here for details)

The goal of the project is to contribute to the expansion of teacher education capacity to 1’500 students in Bhutan in order to meet the increasing demand and to increase the quality of teachers’ education at the primary and secondary levels. During the Phase 4 (2002-2009), additional infrastructure construction at both CoEs (Paro and Samtse) shall include science/computer labs, auditorium, conference/seminar rooms, gymnasium, students’ library, additional classrooms, and offices for curriculum and research.

HRD support for National Finance Services (HRD-NFS click here for details)

The purpose of the HRD-NFS is to strengthen the National Finance Services (NFS) for enhancing efficient and transparent public financial management hereby fostering good governance. It addresses the competencies, self-reliance, developing skilled and motivated cadre for effective and efficient execution of responsibilities and the profession is made attractive.
