Support for Local Governance - training of locally elected leaders
As part of the Support for Local Governance (SLG) project, the project manager from GNHC (Sonam Yarphel) and Helvetas-Bhutan (Tashi and Jangchu) participated in the training of locally elected leaders in the two Gewogs of Tendu and Bara in Samtse. The training was part of a series in a larger capacity development programme which consists of three levels of training.
The SLG project focuses on three districts: Samtse, Zhemgang, and Sarpang. As part of this project, GAOs trained locally elected leaders in 32 gewogs in these three districts. The trainings are part of a national capacity development programme and are offered through a system of training of trainers – training of selected private firms by the Royal Institute of Management; training of gewog administrative officers (GAOs) by the private firms; and training of locally elected leaders by the GAOs. The focus of the training was on planning and prioritization.
